Day 10 (1/16/2026)

Today we too a train trip to a suburb of Melbourne, called Geelong. we left the hotel around 7 AM, but the direct train to Geelong was closed, so we had to take several connecting trains, and eventually uber to the Jobsite we were visiting. Once we go to the site, we had a quick meeting discussing the company that we were visiting, before taking a walk around the site. It was really interesting to hear about the different construction practices that they use here in Australia, as well as other small things that are different, such as PPE expectations. For example, once major construction is complete, and finishes are all that is left to complete, PPE requirements are relaxed, meaning that contractors are free to wear shorts and other more compfortable clothing. We took the train home, and the group took the tram down to the beach for the rest of the day.

It has been really interesting to see the differences in PPE requirements across jobsites! Shorts have been really common as well as flexible use of eye wear.
