Today we got the chance to visit the Plumbing Industry Climate Action Centre trade school. It was really interesting to see how they train the next generation of tradesmen. The facility was impressive, and it was cool to see how hands-on their training is. They had a variety of training areas set up to simulate real jobsite conditions, which helps students get practical experience before they actually go out into the field. It was also interesting to hear about how the program is adapting to newer technologies and sustainability practices within the plumbing industry. Seeing the level of investment they put into trade education gave a good perspective on how important skilled labor is to the construction industry.
After the visit, Professor Rahn took a couple of us out to the German Club for dinner. It ended up being a really great meal and a fun way to spend the evening. The food was delicious and definitely different from what we’ve been eating most of the trip. It was nice to sit down, relax, and talk for a while after a pretty full day.
Overall it was another really good day. Getting to visit the trade school was a unique experience and a cool look into how the trades are trained here, and dinner at the German Club was a great way to wrap up the night.
