Today we went to the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary, which was a really cool experience. It’s one of the most famous wildlife parks in Australia, and it was awesome to finally see some of these animals up close. The koalas were definitely the highlight. They were super chill, just hanging out in the trees sleeping most of the time. It was funny how relaxed they were, barely moving while people walked around taking pictures.
One of the best parts of the visit was getting the chance to pet and feed the kangaroos. They had a big open area where you could walk right up to them, which was pretty unique. At first it felt a little weird approaching them, but they were really calm and used to people. A lot of them were just lounging around in the grass while others came right up looking for food. It was a pretty surreal experience to just be standing there surrounded by kangaroos.
Later in the evening we went to see a production of The Great Gatsby, which was a really cool change of pace after spending the day at the sanctuary. The performance was really well done and it was interesting seeing a live adaptation of a story that most of us have read before. It was definitely a different type of experience compared to the wildlife park, but it ended up being a great way to spend the evening.
After the show, we finished the night by riding a ferris wheel along the river. Seeing the city lit up at night from the top was a really cool view and a great way to end the day. Overall it ended up being a packed day with a mix of experiences, from seeing Australian wildlife up close to enjoying a show and getting some amazing nighttime views of Brisbane.
