Today was our first real day in Brisbane. We started the morning with a walking tour through the district around where we are staying. It was a really cool way to get familiar with the city and see some of the main areas nearby. Brisbane already feels a lot different than Auckland. The weather is warmer and the city has a slightly more relaxed, tropical feel to it. Walking around gave us a good sense of the layout of the area and some places we might want to come back to later.
Later that night, Professor Anoop took the group out to a great steak restaurant. It was a really good meal and a nice way for everyone to get together after the travel day. We spent a couple hours just hanging out, talking, and catching up as a group. After being busy with different activities and thesis work, it was nice to sit down together and relax for a while.
Overall it was a great first full day in Brisbane. The walking tour helped us get oriented with the city, and dinner was a fun way to start this part of the trip together as a group. It definitely feels like the beginning of a new part of the adventure.
