Today was easily one of the coolest days of the trip. We went out to Rangitoto Island and hiked all the way to the top. The hike itself was awesome, being out in nature for a few hours was a really nice change of pace from the city. The trail wasn’t too bad, but it was enough to feel like you earned it once you got to the top.
The view from the summit was unreal. You could see all of Auckland and the surrounding water, and it really put into perspective how unique the area is. Definitely one of those views that makes the whole hike worth it.
Before catching the ferry back, we had some time to go swimming, which was a really cool experience. The water was super salty, way more than I expected, and it felt a little different than normal ocean water. It was a great way to cool off after the hike and just relax for a bit.
Overall, it was just a really good day. Getting out into the woods, being on the island, and then ending it with a swim made it feel like a full experience. Definitely one I’ll remember.
