Today was one of the longest days of the trip, but it also ended up being one of the most rewarding. We took a bus ride down the Great Ocean Road, and going into it I was a little apprehensive since it was a full day of travel. Spending that much time on a bus did not sound too appealing at first, but once we started moving and the scenery began to change, any doubts I had completely disappeared. The drive itself became part of the experience, with nonstop views of the coastline that somehow kept getting better as the day went on.
We made multiple stops along the route, and every place we visited felt unique and worth the time. There were scenic overlooks, coastal cliffs, and quiet spots where you could just stop and take everything in. No matter where we were, the views were absolutely incredible and felt straight out of a postcard. One of the coolest moments of the day was getting to see wild koalas. Seeing them just hanging out in their natural environment was really special and added an unexpected highlight to the trip.
As the day went on, it never really felt repetitive, even though we were on the road for hours. Each stop gave us something new to look at and experience, and it made the long schedule feel manageable and even enjoyable. Everyone on the bus seemed genuinely excited at each new location, which made the overall energy of the day really positive.
We ended the day with a visit to the Twelve Apostles, which was easily one of the most impressive sights of the entire trip. Standing there and looking out over the ocean, with the massive rock formations rising out of the water, was an unforgettable moment. It felt like the perfect way to cap off such a full day. By the time we headed back, we were all pretty tired, but it was the kind of tired that comes from an amazing experience. It was absolutely worth it and definitely a day I will remember for a long time.
